On the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Youth Council for Development Alternatives (YCDA) will organize a special awareness and engagement event on 28th May 2026 to promote dignity, health, and awareness around menstrual hygiene.
This important occasion reflects YCDA’s commitment to creating safe, informed, and supportive spaces where menstruation is discussed openly and without stigma. The event will bring together adolescents, youth, community members, and stakeholders to raise awareness on menstrual health, hygiene practices, and the importance of breaking silence around menstruation.
Purpose of the Event
The event aims to promote awareness on menstrual hygiene management, challenge harmful myths and taboos, and encourage positive conversations around menstrual health and dignity. It will create a platform to strengthen understanding of safe hygiene practices, access to menstrual health information, and the importance of supportive environments for girls and women.
Awareness, Learning, and Collective Action
Through interactive sessions, discussions, and community engagement activities, participants will explore the importance of menstrual health, personal hygiene, nutrition, emotional well-being, and access to safe sanitation. The programme will also emphasize the role of families, schools, and communities in ensuring that menstruation is managed with dignity and confidence.
The event will provide space for open dialogue, shared learning, and collective reflection to help build greater awareness, acceptance, and support around menstrual hygiene.
Moving Forward with Dignity and Awareness
World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 is not only a day of awareness but also a call for collective action to ensure that no girl or woman is held back because of menstruation. Through this observance, YCDA reaffirms its commitment to promoting health, dignity, gender equality, and informed choices for all.
We warmly invite you to join us on 28th May 2026 in observing World Menstrual Hygiene Day and standing together to promote awareness, dignity, and change.
